ABOUT
ASTROLOGY
The stars have fascinated people for thousands of years. In the not so distant past, astrology was a serious subject for an educated person. In the Middle Ages, astrology was studied by serious thinkers: Johannes Kepler, Copernicus and Galileo - the fathers of astronomy and physics, as well as others like Da Vinci and Nostradameus. It also used to be a legitimate study for monks and other spiritually motivated persons. There are even sources that say Jesus was taught astrology while in Egypt and India. But that's another story.
Astrology is a method of knowing the self. All the great spiritual teachers throughout history have taught the importance of knowing the self. A thorough understanding of the birth chart allows you opportunities to adjust your attitudes and behavior. When we make positive changes within ourselves we make progress spiritually, climbing another rung on the ladder of evolution, leading us to where? To enlightenment.
The birth chart is a blueprint of our nature, our character. But character is not set in stone. The one constant in life is change. It's been said by many sages that we alone are responsible for our life. We create our life with each thought, each feeling, each word and each action, every moment of every day. Astrology allows us a unique perspective of ourselves and also shows us how others view us. The gift of astrology better equips us to move confidently into the future making better decisions, trying out new avenues of behavior, identifying our unique potentials, helping us understand the 'why' in life. Astrology is an excellent tool for introspection.
Clarity is a precious resource. We don't have to walk blindly along our path, we can use this tool that has fascinated and helped people for thousands of years. Astrology can guide you in the search for meaning in your life; it can be a signpost along your path. But as always, the choice is yours.
And finally, I'd like to leave you with an interesting perspective of the planets in our solar system, based upon clairvoyant information provided by the 20th century seer, Edgar Cayce. He gave readings in a trance-like state, giving information and advice about a person's life situation, dispensing medical information and knowledge about esoteric subjects, including astrology.
So what did the venerable Edgar Cayce have to say about astrology? The readings refer to the planets as places the soul inhabits between earthly lives. When we leave the body and pass over, we are still aware and alive though residing in a different dimension and planet within our solar system. We learn many lessons depending upon the particular planetary sojourn. For example, we learn about love on Venus and assertion and power on Mars. These star sojourns are stepping-stones in our evolution. Once we return to Earth through a new incarnation, we use our lessons and experiences in the celestial spheres as tools to further our development here on Earth.
Our birth chart indicates our soul patterns, areas where we have progressed as well as areas where we are lacking. Astrology is indeed an implement for fine-tuning the self during each incarnation.
